Córdoba May Fair 2009

Published by angeles at 9:57 am under Andalucía, Cultural, Córdoba, Festivities, Regions Edit This

Sevilla celebratesd, for sure, one of the most famous fairs. But today, let’s visit a nice and charming city: Córdoba. Córdaba Fairs will start next 23th May and will last until 30th May. (In general terms, it is celebrated every year, during the last week of May.)

As most of this kind of celebrations, Córdoba’s Fair was originally an agricultural event, but after several years, it has become a true celebration.

It is celebrated at the Recinto Ferial, (Arenal district), on the bank of the river Guadalquivir.  With flamenco dancing, the famous ‘casetas’, pop concerts and that magic you can find wherever you go in Andalucía.

Something that makes this fair different from Sevilla’s Fair is the fact that the ‘casetas’ are open all day to everybody wanting to share the celebration, flamenco dancing and wine.

This video covers the lighting of the main gate at the Córdoba’s Fair. (Be careful, the sound is a ‘little bit’ high!).
